Noble Warmonger
You a Battleon resident? Welcome to Swordhaven! 'Pologies, I can't show you around right now. Xaria and I have some talking to do. The fun kind of talking! You probably ran into a couple of wraiths already, but the ghosts in the courtyard are gnarly. I dunk on the Nobles all the time, but they manage just fine somewhere this haunted. The mass exorcism is mainly to make the castle safer for the common folk.
Talk
I hate it when they call me Lord Oxford Harley. Makes my nose itchy.
Ghosts
The dead tyrant, King Dethrix the first, used to bury his executed enemies in the courtyard. They'd be buried standing up, facing towards the throne. Some of them were my friends, heroes who joined Alteon during the rebellion… We found most of them, and laid their bodies to rest, but their spirits are confused and angry. Whenever I get some time for myself, I visit the castle to help appease them.
Garden
The courtyard used to be filled with deadly plants and flowers. It used to be the pride and joy of one of the Queens from the old dynasty. Now, only half of them can kill you. The royal gardeners have their work cut out out for them. Doesn't help that the plants were, uh, feeding off of corpses. And then there's freaks like Nora sneaking in to stuff evil tea leaves into her pockets. Is she over there again?
Court
Never liked being here, even when King Alteon took over. Too many butt kissers, and they're good at what they do. It might be hard to believe, but I used to be pretty naive. Nobles I once called friends only came close to look for weaknesses. When they're bored of calling me a stubborn mule, they love baiting the bullheaded idiot of Battleon. "A Horc that snuck into a Harley crib." Come on. If you have a problem with me, leave the Horcs out of it.
Noble Warmonger
Normally, I'd have to run some drills, but I've seen you around Battleon. You're up to the ask. This maze is extremely haunted, and the other Nobles don't have the time or interest to help appease its spirits. Your help is very much appreciated. Let's get started.
Talk
Every time I try to make a map, the hedges shift behind my back.
Exploration
The maze is bigger than it looks. In fact, I think the inside is far too expensive to make sense. Drafting maps never works. The moment I leave, the walls move. No one believes me, save for Lady Xaria. The outer borders aren't bad, but the deeper you go, the worse the headaches get. I usually leave when my nose starts to bleed. It'd help if we had a cleric in our party, but they'd have to be fit. It'd be reckless for me to bring a wilting flower into a pit.
Maze Parties
The Alteons leave the gardens to their minders, but the tyrant they overthrew used to hold galas every other week. This maze would be filled with food, drink, music, and barbarous entertainment. It got worse when the rebellion began. Prisoners would have one of their limbs broke, and set loose in the maze. King Dethrix's Nobles hunted them for sport with their man-eating boars. We might come across the scraps…
Justice
The rebellion ended when Alden Alteon defeated King Dethrix, and took the throne. The loyalists who remained in the castle fled in all directions. A good number of them rushed into the maze. We caught most, but the rest never made it out. My father helped King Alteon investigate the captured Nobles, and dealt… rather lenient punishments, in my opinion. Maybe we should have dumped them here. Well, I'm just being vindictive. Apologies.

After completing the 'Passing Passepied' quest:
Noble Warmonger
Wild beasts, ghosts, and bewilderingly, Extinction Artists. I'll report this back to the royal family's advisors. Have a chat with Lady Xaria if you want to ask about those strangers we met. If you thought all of this was spooky, just remember- we're still in the first layer of the maze, so to speak. The deeper we go, the worse it's going to get. Brace yourself. I'll tap your shoulder when we're ready to dip into layer two.
