Captain of Starship Carcossa
Carcossa is in limbo, or rather. it is Limbo itself. A place between nowhere and birth. Between a time that stopped existing and a new world made with naive ideals. My crew and I want to be a part of it. Power up the ship's facilities, awaken the Doom Spirits who sleep below, and we will fight for the right to exist. I am unable to leave my stasis chamber, but you will free me soon.

Crew
Starship Carcossa's crew contains human and Shadowscythe personnel, but they're called Doom Spirits now. All of us are exiles. Some were deemed so by official decrees, while others were quietly pushed out of their homes for being… different. Together, we found a reason to live, and set off to find a new home if not make one ourselves. We succeeded by reaching the center of the universe… and became eternally separated.

Resets
Starship Carcossa survived three resets, the first of which was triggered locally when we found the origin of all creation. Our physical bodies were erased, but our minds and memories remained. In this state, we had the potential to become anything we wanted… but then a full universal reset, and a fusion occurred. Half of my crew were reincarnated, leaving behind those blue afterimages. The rest were trapped here, forgotten by time itself.

Beloved
My dearest Bryn. I thought she succeeded, and reincarnated as a human being in the new world. As long as she was happy, I'd be content to sleep. In reality, she had become lost, unable to even retain her original form. Thank you for reuniting us. Hm? A being known as Aiwass was protecting her? That name… I should know who this is, but my memories are clouded. This doesn't make sense…

After completing the the 'Self-Infested' quest:

Are you preparing to make the descent? My crew, the thousands of Doom Spirits who remained by my side all this time, await your arrival. They're exiles who were shunned by their own kind for being 'defective.' Those Shadows yearn to live, to feel… to exist. Save them from the monster known as Astero, and they will fight for you. In exchange for our aid, we ask for your blessing. Give us a place in your world.
